am in the yard and the crows are making noise in the trees and the chickens all went quiet and looked up. it was an adult bald eagle flying over
my own chickens are definitely attuned to the local crows as well; they’re among the first to notice a threat from above and sound the alarm when danger is near. the chickens will all go still and quiet and look upward when our friends warn us that something is wrong. you have to keep an ear out. when the crows are screaming but all the other birds are silent, something’s up.
